Yes. It’s not the lack of planning that’s the problem. It’s the lack of focus. Though, if you hand me a book to read, I can focus indefinitely! Not that this is productive, mind you!

For sure. And though I’m real good at talking about planning and acting, I’m lacking in across the board discipline to make it happen in my own life. Maybe I should get a job where I tell other people how to fix themselves. Maybe not.

Ouch.
You’re not a bad writer, and yes, I should be writing…but not right now.
Unfortunately, I say that every day. There are so many things vying for my time that it takes real discipline and planning to get a serious amount of writing done.
As to entertainment distractions, I think the trick is to decide how much down time is needed and how much work time, then make a plan and act on it.
Awareness is the first step to fixing any problem.
