I write for all the reasons you mentioned and I am passionate about writing too.

It began as a dream when I was about seven years old. I lost it somewhere along my life's path. Then while I was making my way in another field, I re-discovered my childhood dream.

I believe I am as passionate as I am because writing is a dream re-discover, re-born and burning a hole in my heart. I love to write, I must write. I can't help but write.

It is the ultimate dream come true for me to be blessed with the freedom to write fulltime, to have my writing published and to receive feedback from people who read my articles, my columns and my blogs saying that they have been inspired, encouraged and helped in some way in your own life journeys and in the pursuit of their dreams.

@Susan--The funny thing is, I don't think I ever actually planned to BE a writer, I just knew there would be some writing involved (grin). And, I know--I can't believe how long it's been since elementary school, either. My 20th college reunion is this year--how did that happen?

@J--It's only recently I've switched gears in my writing, too, but still, I've been putting words to paper for pretty much as long as I can remember!

@Lillie--My only "published" book to date, too ... and yet, I've got this lovely, completed novel that I can't seem to find a publisher for ... so sad! (grin)

Deb,

I share many of the same reasons as you for writing. I enjoyed hearing about your first book at age 8.

I enjoy writing on my blog, but I don't enjoy writing on demand. I've tried writing for an online magazine, etc, and just didn't like the pressure. I guess that's why I only write on my blog, and nowhere else.

I agree! I knew from first grade on, as soon as I learned to read, that I would end up in a career that involved writing, and I never wavered. Playing with words, organizing thoughts, and reworking a sentence until it has just the right amount of punch -- what a great way to spend the day!

Lately, I've been reconnecting with a lot of friends going all the way back to grade school; we're talking 30+ years ago. When I tell them I make my living as a writer, they all say, "I always knew you'd do something with writing."

Sounds like you were the same way, Deb. I enjoyed your post.
