The French have a catqgory; the "iomproving" novel, which (so far as I can figure) is one which expands the mind/imagination/psyche without all that "self-improvement" horseshit that so clogs the mental arteries of soi-disant "serious" people (who, I note parenthetically, tend to have the senses of humor and of joy appropriate to a small-to-medium-sized rodent)(Yes, I have a drop taken).
